I just heard from someone who talked to a girl in the youth arm of Kifaya--a longstanding opposition movement here in Egypt whose name means 'enough'--that four people were killed in the riots in Mahalla al-Kobra today, one of them a nine-year-old boy. She said that the government moved efficiently throughout the day to arrest organizers at a speed that left them scrambling to maintain a coherent presence, fueling perceptions here and in the foreign media that the protests were poorly attended.
